One of the fastest and easiest wast to level up you heroes is training them. There is a training spot in each small city. The training sposts however do require a level and an army strength however, you dont lose any troops. The best time to do it is when you go offline.
Anonther way is to go into dungeons. The only problem with dungeons is you can lose troops, doesnt mean you will but you can. To aviod this, find a dungeon that you know you wont lose any troops in when inside.
The quickest, easiest, and laziest way is to sacrifice on ove you previous high level heroes to give that level to your new hero. Where you can access it is at the Rift Gate in Regia Deorum. The only catch is that laziness is not cheap. To sacrifice a hero costs 20 gold.
The final and most foremost way to level up is to go into the small cities and just battle monsters.
